Private and paired lessons are designed around each student's unique interests and aspirations -- as well as availability. Whether your goal is to simply communicate with greater confidence -- OR become a stronger performer, prepare for auditions,  take conservatory exams in acting and perform in festivals---  individualized coaching provides focused support every step of the way.

Choose from:

Speech Arts & Drama

-   solo (or duo) theatrical performance (storytelling, monologue, and poetry) and dramatic interpretation.

-  optional:  exam preparation and festival participation

-   optional: audition preparation

Singing for the Musical Theatre

 -  whether you child is brand new to singing or a seasoned veteran of the musical theatre, NYPT is here to help you reach your singing  goals and learn how to act a song!

-  audition preparation

Communication Arts

- confident speaking, presentations, storytelling, interviews, and authentic communication with an audience.

Two Pathways

Personal Enrichment

- confidence,   creativity, communication,  career goals.

- solo or paired performance opportunities at NYPT Student Showcases (3 times a year)

Conservatory Certification and/or Public Festival Participation

- graded examinations through an internationally-recognized institutions, including:  Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in Canada,  or  Trintity College  or London Academy of Music and Drama (LAMDA) in the U.K.

Meet Your Instructor

Zoe Henderson

Zoe is a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in Nanaimo. She returned to the city in July 2023, after spending 25 years in Toronto working as a full-time arts educator (music, drama). Professional work includes acting, teaching, producing, playwriting, composing, and music arranging.​  Formal education includes a B.A. (Honours) in Drama (University of Alberta) as well as advanced certificates from the Royal Conservatory of Music in speech arts (2025 National Gold Medal recipient in speech arts),  singing, and piano.  As well as running Nanaimo Young People's Theatre,  Zoe manages a busy home music studio where she teaches piano and singing.   She loves teaching young people and is committed to building spaces where each child can grow, thrive,  and explore their potential.
