This class is a skills-based class focused on storytelling through song where students can learn about and practice "acting the song"  with intent, emotion, and stage presence.  This is NOT a how-to-sing class: instead, we use ensemble singing, character-driven delivery and movement to naturally build ear-training, rhythm, and confidence.

The class culminates in a final performance for family and friends at the Student Showcase - held 3 times per year at Beban Stage.

Is An Introduction to Musical Theatre right for my child?

This class is designed for children ages 9-12 who love to sing and dance -- OR want to sing and dance but are maybe a little shy. (Please ASK your child if they want to sing and dance. In our experience, some kids (surprisingly) do not, and there is nothing  we can do or say to get them to sing and dance if they don't want to. There HAS to be the desire.)  But if the desire is there, we can help them explore essential skills by singing in a group and developing stage presence.  And if your child wants to sing a solo, we can help them with that, too!
